What are the Rejuvelux Treatments like?

IPL on skin diagramAt Invigor8 Skin & Body Centre it is painless, quick and easy! After your initial preparation, our Therapist will gently move a Palomar pulsed light hand piece is over the skin. The hand piece emits a light that breaks up the pigment in the lesions. Most people perceive the light as a gentle “snapping” sensation, which causes little to no discomfort. The Client Contact Cooling hand piece will reduce discomfort dramatically compared to other IPL machines.

Treatment frequency ranges depending on the size and intensity of the area to be treated.

BONUS In addition to reducing or eliminating blemishes, IPL acts on the dermis to stimulate collagen production. The result is a reduction in fine lines and long-term improvements to the tone and texture of your skin.

For Pigmented Lesions Removal:

Sun spots, age spots and freckles are buildup of melanin caused by exposure to UV radiation.  These skin concerns can be treated very effectively using IPL Photorejuvenation to make the skin smooth, radiant with even skin tone.  Majority of the pigments are removed with only one or two treatments.  Do not put up with blemishes on your face, decolletage, hands and arms any longer and speak to Invigor8 Skin and Body Paramedical Skin Technician about getting IPL Photorejuvenation treatments.

Treated Pigmentation on Hands

IPL hand before   IPL hand after 1

            Before                          After 1 treatment

  1. Pigmented lesions will darken slightly after treatment, and then fade away after about 10-14 days.
  2. The lesion will gradually turn darker over the next 24-48 hours. It may turn dark brown or even black.
  3. The lesion will progress to scabs/crusting and will start flaking off in 7-14 days. Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs.
  4. The lesion is usually healed in 21-30 days. It will continue to fade over the next 6-8 weeks.

For Vascular Lesion Treatment:

Superficial veins, broken capillaries and Rosacea caused by the weakening of the veins and capillary walls can be treated effectively without surgery or damage to the surrounding skin. Majority of the reddening can be removed with only one or two treatments.  Do not put up with unsightly discolouration on your face and decolletage any longer and speak to Invigor8 Skin and Body Paramedical Skin Technician about getting IPL Photorejuvenation treatment.

Treated Broken Capillaries

           Before                     After 1 treatment

  1. The vessels may undergo immediate graying or blanching, or they may exhibit a slight purple or red coloring. The vessels will fully or partially fade in about 10-14 days. Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs.
  2. Repeat treatments may be performed every 7-10 days if skin has fully recovered.

For Acne Treatment:

  1. There may be an initial flare-up of acne, similar to the kind seen after a peel procedure or the beginning of a new topical or oral acne medication.
  2. Some of the blemishes may form scabs. Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs.
  3. The acne blemishes will fade after about 2-3 weeks.
  4. A 40% reduction in the number of lesions and the prevention of new lesion formation can be expected following the treatment course.

Invigor8 Therapist will explain in detail after treatment care and other less likely side effects to you during the initial consultation.

What can I expect after treatment?

  1. Blood vessels (visible veins) generally undergo immediate graying or blanching and then the surrounding area may redden. The vessels then fade after about 10-14 days.
  2. Most people experience some mild sunburn-like sensation in the treated area shortly after treatment. This does not interfere with normal activities and usually subsides within a day. In some cases, the redness may last longer, but will still be mild and temporary.
  3. Apply ice or cold packs to the treatment area for 10-15 minutes every hour for the next four hours, as needed. An oral, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, such as acetaminophen may be taken to reduce discomfort. Use according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
  4. In some cases, prolonged redness or blistering may occur. An antibiotic ointment may be applied to the affected areas twice a day until healed.
  5. Bathe or shower as usual. Treated areas may be temperature-sensitive. Cool showers or baths will offer relief. Avoid aggressive scrubbing and use of exfoliants, scrub brushes and loofa sponges until the treatment area has returned to its pre-treatment condition.

Until redness has completely resolved, avoid all of the following:

  • Applying cosmetics to treated areas.
  • Swimming, especially in pools with chemicals, such as chlorine.
  • Hot tubs and spas.
  • Activities that cause excessive perspiration.
  • Sun exposure to treated areas. Apply an SPF-30 or greater sunscreen.

What is the difference between IPL and laser treatment?

Pulsed-light systems and lasers are very similar and treat lesions in basically the same way.  However, the RejuveLux process uses a new technology that removes lesions much faster than lasers.  It has a larger, smooth beam, and a long pulse for safer, faster, and more comfortable treatments than laser. RejuveLux treatments can fit even the busiest person's schedule.

What should you look for when selecting the right IPL equipment for your treatment?

These are questions that you need to ask to ensure that your IPL treatment is the most comfortable and effective around.  They are followed by our answers

Q: Does your IPL have Client Contact Cooling?

Invigor8 A: YES! Advanced Contact Cooling technology sends a chilled fluid supply through the handpiece down to the sapphire tip, which is cooled to as low as 15˚C. The handpiece tip is continually cooled while in contact with the skin throughout treatment, providing maximum safety and comfort during the treatment.  When the handpiece is in contact with the skin, it will feel very cool as it extracts the treatment heat through the sapphire lens. This is essential, not only for comfortable treatments, but also to protect the skin from burns. You will never go back to painful lasers, cold air blowers, ice, gel or basic IPL’s again once you have experience this type of patient cooling.

Q: Does your IPL have Wide Smooth Pulse Technology?

Invigor8 A: YES! Palomar systems deliver pulsed light over one smooth pulse duration, rather than the multiple power spikes (which may damage skin) that other technologies use. This patented Smooth Pulse technology keeps the epidermal temperature lower, for far more comfortable treatments. It also allows for the safe delivery of greater amounts of energy, which is more effectively absorbed by the target chromophore, producing greater efficacy. Wide smooth pulse technology allows higher treatment power, delivered safely and comfortably. Single smooth pulse widths (up to 500 milliseconds) protects the skin and allow more effective treatments (particularly on darker skin types). Higher power input means less hair regrowth, less time required for each treatment and cost you a lot less with better results.

Q: Does your IPL have a Large Coverage?

Invigor8 A: YES! Large treatment heads (provided they can deliver reasonable power above 20 joules/sqcm) will perform the treatment effectively and efficiently (7.4sq cm heads, as opposed to a 2sq cm head, take a quarter of the time to treat a mans back). 1 sq cm lasers have even less coverage. So why spend longer undergoing treatments when that time could be spent on other opportunities.
