What is acne?

Acne is a devastating disease affecting teenagers and adults. 80% of teenagers have some form of acne. Sometimes acne can cause severe scars that may be permanent. It is often caused by a build up of dead skin cells and natural oil that stick together and block the pores. The acne bacteria feed off this mixture which then becomes inflamed.

Acne comes in two basic types and varies in severity from individual to individual.

1. An inflamed condition normally associated with soreness, redness, swelling, pus formation, etc.
2. A non-inflamed condition usually accompanied with whiteheads or blackheads.

What factors have the tendency to aggravate acne?

One or more of the factors listed below could either cause adverse reactions, contraindications or be delaying relief of acne conditions:-

• Climate - Humidity induces skin cell and skin pore secretions.

• Hormonal fluctuations - Birth control pills, pregnancy or seasonal changes.
• Cosmetics - Improper use or the wrong choice of products.

Why doesn't simply cleansing my face with an appropriate cleanser twice a day clear up my blackhead acne conditions?

Since the blackhead is formed below the surface of the skin, it cannot be treated by surface cleansing products. How can I control my acne?

With continued use of DANNE Home Prescriptives and regular corrective in-clinic treatments, you may expect results in approximately two months.

What will I experience during a professional in-clinic Acne Alkaline Wash treatment?

Initially, you will be asked to complete a thorough questionnaire. Your Invigor8 Paramedical Skin Technician will design an individual corrective treatment program by conducting a full skin analysis and combining the information from that analysis with the information provided in the questionnaire.

The treatment will include:

• Removal of redundant dead skin build up and debris from the skin
• Procedures for the release and removal of impaction and infection reduction
• Application of products for the purpose of Acne healing and controlling additives
• Enzyme treatment for the purpose of improving skin functioning and to flush and expel toxins and rebuild stronger, healthier tissue.
• Application of hydrating gel and lymph drainage.

These treatments can be performed on the face or the body.

Each treatment is very private and relaxing, and is intended to bring you a step closer to having clearer skin. During your in-clinic treatment, your Invigor8 Paramedical Skin Technician will use DANNE alkaline wash to facilitate the treatment of your acne alkaline wash is intended to abort the surface epidermal cells of the skin, dissolve hair, soften tissue and assist in excreting dead and dying cells. The series of treatments prescribed by a qualified technician gives a similar effect as a chemical peel without the trauma of a controlled burn or the uncomfortable convalescence required by conventional medical peels.

Are there any side effects to Acne Alkaline Wash?
The treatment is usually pain free. However in some cases, usually after the initial treatment before the skin has adjusted to alkaline, you may experience some redness or dryness. You may even have some very superficial scabs caused be the necessity to leave the alkaline wash solution on the skin for longer duration than most cases. As long as you do not scratch or pick the superficial scabs, they will heal under normal conditions. As with any product applied topically, there may be small percentages of people in the population that may experience an adverse reaction.

Alkaline wash is safe for most skin categories and races and is recommended for treating light acne scar conditions, fine wrinkles, folliculitis, pigmentation treatments and hair removal. Results may vary from person to person. While alkaline wash is usually accompanied by minimum discomfort provided you follow the home prescriptives given to you by your DANNE paramedical technician faithfully, you may experience the following:-

• Redness and a slight sandpaper effect on the skin
• Peeling proceeded by a crusty hardness to the skins surface
• Irritation around the eyes and the mouth area and sometimes on the chin
• An outbreak of pimples or gases and other impurities that were already present in the skin
• A slight burning sensation or "sunburn" sensation in the early stages of the treatment
• An irritated, open lesion that may weep and then scab and heal normally (requires antibiotic gel or other treatment as prescribed by a physician or as recommended by the technician).

Alkaline Wash after care instructions

• Only use DANNE skin care products on the treated area as prescribed by your Invigor8 Paramedical Skin Practitioner. Other products may adversely affect the outcome.
• Do not sunbathe or use a solarium for 24 hours. Use of a solarium is not recommended as it has the same effects of being exposed to the sun's harmful UV rays. Apply DANNE transdermal sunblock on the treated area
• Use DANNE beta gel at home
• If redness occurs, apply ice or natural yoghurt
